REVIEW: BBC Radio One Teen Awards raise the roof at Wembley

The BBC Radio One Teen Awards at The SSE Wembley Arena was not disappointing!

5 Seconds of Summer kicked off the award show with their hit track ‘She Looks So Perfect’ they warmed the teenage crowd up dancing and singing, which was not difficult for the American band. They finished their three-song set with their new single ‘Youngblood’ which the crowd was jumping up and down to. Then it was on the to the important stuff: the awards. The first award to be given was the Best British TV Show, which was award to ‘Love Island’.

There were three Teen Heroes that Radio One had hand-picked. Lily Rice, who competes in wheelchair motorcross she wants to show that wheelchairs are not a bad thing. Another Teen Hero, Junior, he is determined to show the world that guys can dance too, ‘never give up on your dreams’ is his mantra. The last teen hero is Siena Castova, Siena created a website to help young people who are being bullied. She states that ‘they are not alone in the struggles they are facing if your passionate about something take the first step you never know where it will get you.’

Next on the line up was Sigrid performing ‘Strangers’. She was able to have the crowd on their feet singing to the upbeat single.

The award for Best British Group that was proudly given to Little Mix much to the delight of their fans in the audience who cheered loudly when the girls accepted the award.

The next performance was Jack & Jack who performed the summer hit ‘Rise’, Jonas Blue then brought on Liam Payne who performed another hit single ‘Polaroid’. The crowd sang every lyric back to them!

Another award to be given was the Young Sports Personality of The Year that was awarded to Kare Adenegan who was shocked to receive the award.

HRVY was next to perform on the Radio One stage performing a medley consisting of ‘Personal’ and his latest single ‘I Wish You Were Here’.

Gemma Colins then skydived into Wembley Arena to award BTS with two of their Teen Awards, Best International Group, and Social Media Star.

Next to perform was Not3s and Mabel performing ‘Fine Line’ and ‘My Lover’ which again the crowd loved!

To conclude the award show was Little Mix’s performance starting with ‘Touch’. The crowd was screaming very loudly raiding the energy levels in the arena. Next was ‘Only You’, for this the girl group invited the Teen Hero dancer Junior to dance with them. His dancing was incredible! They performed their new single next ‘Woman Like Me’ and to finish the award show the girls performed ‘Shout Out To My Ex’
